Is that an Elvis in the window?

I decided to get a way from reviewing books so I can tell everyone about a really neat place to get a color and cut for the ladies and a cut and shave for the fellas. Didi and Smiling John's Barber Shop and Salon has just what every lady and gentleman will want when it comes to keeping your do in order.

From the first step inside the door, you will be immediately transported back in time to the 1950's. Come in and listen to Dion and the Belmonts as you wait for Didi or John to make you marvelous. Everywhere your eyes travel you will see both of the owners love of a by gone era. From the 50's style  kitchen table and chairs in the waiting area, to the vintage vanity layered with hats, jewelry and gloves.

Now, me being of the female persuasion, I do not get to take a ride in this antique barber chair. What a bummer! Looks pretty cool though. What gentleman wouldn't want to get a nice cut and clean straight razor shave in this beauty.

As you venture farther back into the shop, you will come across this really cool wall of old game boards.been told that the whole thing will be covered one day. But for now its just neat to see all the games of a by gone era, when the world wasn't dominated with video games and the Internet.

Wait, what do I spy with my little eye against the game wall? Could it be? I think it is... an open bar!

OK so its just and old fridge with an open bar sign, but how cool is that! Open the door take out a cold one, soda or beer, and relax. How many other barbers and salons offer beer to their customers? Not any that I .  know of. True, John cant sell you the beer, but no law out there says he can't offer you one at no charge. I'm surprised that barber char isn't equipped with a beer holder.

Did I mention that they will give you spare change for the parking meter? Far out! Didi and Smiling John want you to come and stay awhile. Enjoy the atmosphere and laugh a little. Don't let the downtown location scare you off. I was there the other night at 7:15 and didn't leave till 9:30. Didi locked the door when I came in and locked the door behind me as I left. Even though I had an appointment, walk ins are more then welcome. Heck, just walk in! Stay and chat awhile, sing along with the tunes on the "juke box",crack open a cold one! At Didi and Smiling John's they treat you like family. Oh, and yes there is an Elvis in the window!
